Several cities around Central Georgia are planning events to welcome members of the 48th Brigade back from a year-long deployment to Afghanistan.

In Macon, the Central Georgia Red Cross is planning a homecoming parade on July 30th.

Spokesman Ryan Logan says the parade will start at 10:30 or 11 a.m. and end with a ceremony at Macon City Hall.  He says Governor Sonny Perdue is expected to attend the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the Red Cross will host a family day for members of the brigade and their families.

The Red Cross is also planning two other homecoming events.

They'll have a parade in Milledgeville on June 5th and a ceremony in Forsyth on July 10th.  Details on those events were not immediately available.

The Milledgeville and Forsyth-Monroe County chambers of commerce say they also have events planned, but say the details aren't finalized.

The Red Cross, the Milledgeville Chamber of Commerce and the Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce say more details about the events will be available later.
