WE ARE Central Ga.: Sean Brooks
Meet Sean Brooks
What is your connection to Central Georgia?
My mother’s side of the family. I’ve been here for about 14 years now. I have 2 homes: Washington D.C. and here.
Who/what is the biggest influence in your life?
Myself/ You have to believe in yourself. I have to be because I have my three children, so I have to be my biggest influence for them.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned (or advice) that you’d like to share with others?
Don’t give up. Don’t quit. Chase your dreams, no matter what they are. Don’t let nobody tell you what you can and cannot do. Believe in yourself. Believe in the God in you.
Life-changing/significant moment in your life?
My children. They changed the way I view everything because I especially have two daughters and one, so yes my view on a whole lot of stuff has changed.
Give me an example of one thing way your view has changed?
I wanted more for them. It says in that good book that “a good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.” When I saw them and I had them, I knew I had to do something different with myself.
What are your hobbies/what do you do in your free time?
Read and talk. I know I’m acting a little shy right now, but I love to talk.
How did you pick up on reading?
You never stop learning. You never stop growing. Once you stop growing, you basically die. You never stop learning. Life is a learning experience. All of my mistakes were learning curves. That’s all I can say. If you want to learn something on a subject, you go get a book, and you read it. Self-education is the best education.
