<this is Eyewitness News at 11>
Good evening... Thanks for joining us I'm Jennifer Moulliet
Our top story tonight...
Tropical Storm Isaac is nearing hurricane strength as it skirts past Cuba
and heads towards the Florida Keys...
Meteorologist John Boyer has kept track of the storm for the last few days... And has more on what we can expect here in Central Georgia

We'll have more on Isaac coming up in just a few minutes... But first turning to local news..
A Macon woman is dead.. After her daughter's boyfriend crashed his car into her house... Hitting her.
Many neighbors of 48-year-old Charlane Cowan saw the accident.... And say it all happened in front her two-year-old granddaughter.
It started with an argument... that ended with woman losing her life.
<she was almost family to us, that's how close she had got to us.>
A handful of people on Elpis Street in Macon say they heard an argument break out between 48-year-old Charlane Cowan... And her daughter's 23-year-old boy friend Grelan Muse.
An exchange they say lasted for about an hour.
Jasmine Reeze says Cowan repeatedly told Muse to leave... But he wouldn't
<i'm not... Tryin not to hear it so I play music, and then I hear his tires screech so I pause my music and I look out the window and he backin' up>
Those who saw the fight say Muse got in his truck and pretended to ram the front of the house two or three times... Until finally... He hit Cowan... Sending her through the wall of her home.
Brenda Reeze... Cowan's neighbor ... Says she ran to her friend's side.
<I went over there when she was laying on the front porch. I took a towel and went and tried to assist, wipe some blood off her face and stuff.>
Many of the those living near Cowan say they're not sure what the argument was about... But suspect it had to do with Cowan's two-year-old granddaughter... Who was standing right inside the doorway of the home.
<the baby was on the front porch too.. But God was on her side because she didn't get hit>
Jasmine Reeze says after Muse crashed through the front of the home... He backed up and drove off.
But according to Bibb County Jail Records....
Muse was arrested shortly after the accident.
He's charged with felony murder... Aggravated assault... And cruelty to children.

Isaac is still a few days away from causing any trouble here in Central Georgia... But the threat of Isaac has already had an effect on the Rublican National Convention in Tampa.
In an effort to keep the influx of over 50 thousand people safe... Officials have pushed the start of the convention to Tuesday.
Tropical Storm Isaac has already crossed over Haiti... Where 4 people died because of the storm... and is now skirting around Cuba.
Those who live in the southern tip of Florida... are on a Hurricane watch...
We'll continue to follow the storm and bring you updates as they become available... And let you know how it will affect those of us here in Central Georgia.

Two separate ceremonies today celebrated the life of Lauren Giddings. Family members...who flew in from Maryland...were surrounded by many of Lauren's friends and supporters at Mercer Law School and later at Washington Park. Judy Le has that story.
Family and friends took a walk down memory lane...at Mercer Law School...to raise up the memory of Lauren Giddings.
She was killed last summer just weeks after she graduated from law school. Faculty, students, and alumni raised $10,000 to revamp the school's old sign, that is now complete with a bronze plaque honoring Lauren.
<The old sign was just a wooden sign. The new brick sign adds some character. And when you first come up Georgia Avenue and you see it, it makes Mercer Law.>
<Lauren's story in the past year has been so much about tragedy and it was really important to us to put a new light on it to show that lauren was so much more than just the end of her life>
The celebration continued at Washington Park where a new bench was unveiled.
<I created it to represent her strength as a women. It's also still feminine in the shape and color. >
The family dressed in Lauren's favorite color...took turns admiring the steel bench. The park was filled with live music and supporters both near and far.
<She was a beautiful beautiful person from what I hear and I'm here to celebrate a beautiful life>
<We would've driven eight hours. It's the least we could do>
Judy Le...13wmaz...eyewitness news
Tisdale describes the bench as functional art...where people can sit...lay...and remember Lauren.

Students of Veterans High School and the surrounding Warner Robins community came out this morning to pay tribute to the life of a Bonaire teen... Killed in a car accident.
Family and friends of Kyle Hillock gathered at Veterans High School in the parking lot to honor his life.
They wrote messages on balloons and released them for the 17 year old that died Monday in a car accident.
Hillock was struck by a tractor-trailer truck while he was driving his Ford Mustang on Thompson Road.
His friends say they will remember his kindness and how funny he was.
<I remember his smile every morning. I remember he would sit in front of us and he would laugh, he would tell funny jokes. He was fun just a lot of fun to be around. >
< He always talked to everybody even if he didn't know them. He always tried to make his friends feel better, no matter if he was going through hard times or not. He wanted to make sure all of his friends were smiling>
Nats of Balloon Read <I promise to talk to you everyday as long as you promise to listen everyday. I miss you Rest In Peace>
<we have so many thing that we would have liked to say to Kyle that we never got to say so we are pretty much writing them on balloons and hoping he will read them>
Nats of Balloon Release < Everybody release your balloons>
<I feel that his spirit is still down here trapped down here with us and by all of us caring and being here showing that they miss him, It just shows that our load is lightened a little bit and he is glad that that has happened>
The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m. followed by the burial at Parkway Memorial Gardens.

The Rotary Club of Downtown Macon... Mainstreet Macon and several downtown businesses partnered to raise money for Prostate Cancer Research... While having fun sampling some brews.
It's a party with a cause

<it's breast cancer for men you know, and no one likes to talk about it but it's a real thing. >
Dan Pittman was one of five hundred people who took part in the Pints for Prostates event.
For twenty dollars you could sample three beers at several downtown businesses and men over forty could get a free PSA blood test.
Pittman says it's easier to get tested over a cold one.
<guys don't like the doctor, guys don't like to admit weakness I mean if you go get tested than your admitting you have a weakness. >
That's the reason Lisa Hichkad says she brought her husband to the event.
<they get to come out and have fun drink a few beers and then have their blood tested and it's not like they're going to the doctor." >
