You can expect a $25 credit from Georgia Power this month

These credits were approved by the Georgia Public Service Commission as part of its order to continue construction of Plant Vogtle.

ATLANTA – Georgia Power announced customers will be receiving the first of three $25 credits for the Plant Vogtle nuclear expansion in their April bills.

In a press release, Georgia Power said customers will receive $25 in total 2018 bill credits. These credits were approved by the Georgia Public Service Commission as part of its order to continue construction of Vogtle Three and Four in December of last year.

“The credits are a direct result of parent guarantee payments for the project from Toshiba available due to the strength of the original contract for the project and protections in place for Georgia electric customers,” the release stated.

Georgia Power's Plant Vogtle is an existing nuclear power plant along the Savannah River in Burke County, Ga., near Waynesboro, with two existing nuclear reactors and two reactors presently under construction. They mark the last remaining nuclear projects in the United States and are the subject of a significant amount of controversy.
