CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ga. — A captain with the Crawford County Sheriff's Office is on leave after being arrested in Monroe County.

That's according to Crawford Sheriff Lewis Walker.

He says Captain Corey King was charged with trying to elude a police officer, expired registration, no insurance, and reckless driving.

Walker says King was off duty and riding a four-wheeler in Culloden on Saturday.

An incident report says King and several other riders led a Monroe deputy on a chase at high speeds for more than a mile.

The chase ended when the deputy pointed his gun at the ATV drivers, arrested one of them, and threatened to Tase him.

King was not arrested that day, but he turned himself in to face charges on Monday.

According to Walker, King is a captain in the detention department. He's on leave while the sheriff conducts an internal affairs investigation.
