On Saturday morning, members of the 13 WMAZ family gathered at Forest Hills United Methodist Church in Macon for our parent company's Make A Difference Day.

The mission of Make a Difference Day is to improve the lives of others in the surrounding community.

This year, 13 WMAZ helped bag lunches for hungry students at 16 schools around Macon through an organization called The Backpack Ministry.

About 30 of our staff formed an assembly line and packed non-perishable food items into bags all morning.

Anchor Lori Johnson says she was proud to be part of such an rewarding day.

"It is awesome, it is so much fun. I work with a great group of folks anyway, but to be able to come out here outside of the workplace and bond, and do something for the community, it's great," said Johnson.
