It was not just people receiving blessings at one Macon church Sunday. Saint Paul's Episcopal Church gave blessings to animals at an outdoor service.

The church's priest Bryan Hinson says this event is in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi, who was a patron saint to animals. Hinson says they bless animals every year around October 4 because that is Saint Francis' day.

“I think it’s important that we recognize that our place in the world is to be good stewards of creation, so that we have a responsibility to the world as much as the world does with us and the way we are most closely connected to that is our animal companions, animal friends,” said Hinson.

Hinson says if this is something you are interested in, Saint Francis Church in Macon is holding an animal blessing Tuesday.
