A candidate for Warner Robins Council Post 1 is going to announce the start of his campaign Thursday.
Eric Langston, 34, is going to hold his announcement at 5 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Center in Warner Robins on Thursday. The Post 1 seat is currently held by former Mayor Chuck Shaneen, who says he''s not sure whether he'll run again.
He says his campaign will focus on public safety because he says that issue needs to be solved first, before focusing on other issues such as economic development.
Langston served six years in the Georgia Air National Guard from 2002-2008 and currently works as a civilian on Robins Air Force Base.
At the Base, he is a special operations manager for a fleet of 26 TH-1H helicopters used to train special operations pilots.
He said he wants voters to ask themselves, “Are you safer today than you were 5 years ago?”
Langston called the public safety issue “personal.”
“The number one responsibility of government is to protect the people,” Langston said over the phone Thursday.
Langston did say he knows first responders work day in and day out selflessly, but with limited resources.
“Reducing crime is very important and keeping it contained is crucial to focusing on the things making our community great,” Langston said.
Langston says he was born and raised in Warner Robins.
