Healthcare costs could be changing for Bibb County employees.
“There are more individuals, so far this year, with claims in excess of $25,000 than there have been in the past two years, comparatively speaking,” says the account executive for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Chris Leoffler.
Leoffler told commissioners health claims from county employees are up this year. He suggested the county raising copays on emergency room visits and lowering copays for urgent care to help reduce costs.
Commissioner Virgil Watkins says encouraging health lifestyles is another way to keep people out of doctor's office.
Watkins introduced a resolution that would pay bonuses to county employees who record a certain amount of steps.
Commissioners decided to discuss this program with Blue Cross Blue Shield before voting on it.
