Bibb County voters to decide school, water-board, judge's races

Bibb County voters will decide four races in the May 22 county election.

Three people are running to succeed William C. Randall as civil/magistrate court judge.

They are William Shurling, currently the chief associate civil/magistrate court judge, and two assistant district attorneys, Che Young and Pam White Colbert.

Lisa Garrett, an educational-support specialist, is challenging Wanda West for the Post 8 seat on the board of education.

Arnesica Varnado Holmes, self-employed, is challenging Macon Water Authority chairman Sam Hart.

And two people are challenging Dorothy Black, who represents District 1 on the water authority.

They are Anissa Jones, a chiropractor, and Marshall Talley, a consultant.

Like all the county contests on the May ballot, all four races are nonpartisan.

Barring a successful write-in campaign, four other county officials are re-elected without opposition.

They are:

  • Daryl Morton, Post 7 at large seat, Bibb County Board of Education.
  • Jeff Hanson, State Court judge
  • Jeffrey Monroe, State Court judge

The last day to register for the May election is April 24, and early voting begins April 30.

Voters statewide will also decide statewide races, including the governor's race, and seats in Congress and the Georgia General Assembly.
