Bibb County deputies had their mini-golf skills put to the test Saturday as they played children that live in Lake Wildwood.

Sheriff David Davis and his deputies split up into teams with the neighborhood kids for a little friendly competition.

The goal was for the children to have a chance to get to know law enforcement officials and establish a positive relationship with them at an early age.

"It really helps get them started in preventing crime and to realize that these officers are people just like they are. They feel more comfortable with them; they feel more comfortable talking to them,” said Gerry Martin.

Martin says the neighborhood plans to make it an annual event.
