A Bibb County deputy was injured Friday morning after fighting with a man he pulled over.
The deputy suffered fractured ribs and was treated and released at the hospital, according to Bibb County Sheriff's Office spokesman Randy Gonzalez.
Deputy Johnny Rowe pulled the vehicle over at about 7:30 a.m. at Marathon gas station, 5013 Harrison Road, Macon. The car was driven by Bobby Gene Swearingen. The suspect, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant in Jones County, ran from the vehicle after he was pulled over, Gonzalez said.
Rowe gave chase and caught Swearingen where the two got into a "scuffle." The suspect tried to take the deputy's Taser, Gonzalez said.
Swearingen is charged with aggravated assault, simple battery on an officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, interference with government property and felony obstruction.
