A Bibb County School teacher was injured after being hit in the head with a padlock Wednesday.

It happened at about 4:12 p.m. in the 7th grade hallway at Ballard-Hudson Middle School, according to schools spokeswoman Stephanie Hartley.

"The teacher was alert and following the incident and transported to the hospital for assessment," Hartley said.

Campus police determined that the lock was not intentionally thrown at the teacher, "but was thrown recklessly into the air resulting in the incident," Hartley stated in an email sent to 13WMAZ.

She said administrators are meeting with students at the school to discuss student code of conduct and routines.

The previous day, a 15-year-old student was hospitalized after being stabbed in the back and chest.
