After seeing the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas, three central Georgians packed up a truck of supplies and their boat and began the trek to Houston.
Kyle Smith, Adam English, and Tommy Dewitt met up with a convoy in Baton Rouge and the group of 25 trucks and boats arrived just outside of Houston late Tuesday night. They plan to make their way into the city early Wednesday morning to bring their supplies to evacuees and help with search and rescue efforts.
The three men are documenting their journey through a series of Facebook live posts on their Middle Georgia Hurricane Harvey Relief page.
On that page, they are also asking for donations from other central Georgians. They've set up four drop-off spots so far including The Crazy Bull in downtown Macon, Capital Cycle on Mercer University Drive, Karats and Keepsakes Boutique on Forsyth Road, and Micro Technology Consultants in Warner Robins.
As soon as they've collected enough supplies to fill a truck, the group has already arranged for a driver to bring the donations to Texas.
