City Church in Warner Robins got a rough treatment from Irma Monday.

The church on Corder Road lost its steeple Monday morning as Irma moved into Central Georgia.

Lead pastor Dwayne Evors says a maintenance employee told him the steeple was starting to lean at around 10:30 a.m.

About an hour, later it had fallen over and took part of the roof with it.

Evors says their biggest concern is potential water damage if the hole in the roof gets any bigger, but Evors says it could have been much worse.

"Yeah, we're blessed here, and we're hoping to stay open for business and touching people's lives. So yes, we're managing and we're open and blessed. Absolutely," Evors says.

The steeple is staying on the roof at the moment thanks to an emergency cable.

This is the second steeple City Church has had damaged in severe storms.
