The Georgia Department of Transportation announced on Twitter at 2 p.m. Saturday that the I-16 contraflow was being removed.

There was a lack of traffic using the contraflow and contraflow operations will be completely removed by 4 p.m. today, according to GDOT.

This will return normal traffic for both east and westbound lanes.

GDOT says this allows the state to relocate its resources that are being used for the contraflow and move them westward, which is where the storm has shifted.

During the contraflow, all four lanes sent traffic westbound out of Savannah towards Dublin.
