A dump truck collided with a tractor trailer on I-75 southbound in Byron early Tuesday morning.

Officer Stewart Williams with the Byron Police Department said the dump truck was carrying asphalt and somehow flipped over.

It happened near mile marker 147.

All lanes have since re-opened.

Williams says the the driver and a passenger in the tractor trailer were taken to a hospital.

The driver of the dump truck was not hurt.

Mosby says GDOT crews is dumping sand where the asphalt spilled on the side of the road.

He says he estimates around 20,000 pounds of asphalt spilled onto the interstate.

Byron Fire Police Chief JD Mosby says Georgia State Patrol is still investigating the cause of the accident.
