Sixth Street building fire
More than 20 firefighters battled a blaze at a vacant building in downtown Macon Tuesday.
According to Bibb County Dispatchers, the call came in around 3:02 a.m.
The first fire engine was not able to get to the scene until almost 20 minutes later, because of a stopped train blocking the path to the building.
Firefighters got the train to move, and worked to put out the flames.
Captain Michael Williamson with Macon-Bibb Fire says it took more than an hour to put out the blaze.
Authorities said the building was the Georgia Carolina Oil Company.
Williamson says the building has been empty for years.
No one was injured.
The cause is still under investigation.
