PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. -- A Pickens High School math teacher is facing charges after officials said he used Snapchat to have inappropriate communication with students.

Detectives with the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office said the inappropriate communication led to physical contact with at least one of the students. Following a tip, investigators executed a search warrant on Daniel Culbreth's Snapchat account and confirmed the information.

They found numerous students were communicating with Culbreth.

Culbreth was arrested on Thursday and charged with Computer Exploitation of Children and Sexual Assault by Persons with Supervisory Authority.

The Sheriff's Office is urging parents to be proactive about knowing who their children are communicating with on social media.

"In cases like this, nobody wins. Yes, we may have made a good arrest, but a number of teenage girls have been made victims by someone that we, as parents, have entrusted to care for them," said Sheriff Donnie Craig.

Investigators are still sorting through evidence and said Culbreth could face more charges. His first court appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
