The GBI is investigating after a woman in Telfair County was found dead inside her home.

They say they suspect foul play.

Special Agent Scott Whitley with the GBI says they found 26-year-old Patrice Ellis around 1 p.m. at a home on East Bruce Street in McRae.

"A friend did find her and ran to a local establishment to summon help and the people helped her and called 911," said Whitley.

Ellis' friends and family are already mourning her loss.

“They took something from me that was a part of me,” Jamiya Southerland said.

He says they were cousins and they were best friends.

“She was always a family person, like loved her family,” Southerland said.

He says doesn't know why anyone would want to hurt her.

“I don’t think she would have harmed anyone,” Southerland said. “I just want whoever did this malicious crime to be put to justice because she didn’t deserve to go out like this.”

Whitley says anyone with information should call 478-374-6988.
