Houston County voters to decide two school-board races in May

Houston County voters will decide two races in the May 22 county election.

Two people are challenging Lori Johnson for the Post 2 seat on the Houston County board of education.

And Sheila Ashley, a pastor, is challenging Hoke Morrow, the Post 6 member on the board of education.

Like all of the county contests on the May ballot, both races are nonpartisan.

Barring a successful write-in campaign, four other county officials are re-elected without opposition.

They are:

  • Houston County chairman Tommy Stalnaker
  • Post 2 county commissioner Jay Walker
  • State Court Judge Jason Ashford
  • And Houston County board of education District 4 member Fred Wilson

The last day to register for the May election is April 24, and early voting begins April 30.

Georgia voters will also decide statewide races including the governor's race and seats in Congress and the Georgia General Assembly.
