Cast a line and catch a fish!

On Saturday, crews from the Macon Water Authority dropped more than 1,500 pounds of fish in the Javors Lucas Lake for the kids fishing derby.

This was the 13th year for the derby. The competition started at 7 a.m. with a race to catch the largest fish.

Children from four age groups lined up along the sides of the lake to compete for the first place finish.

Prizes included iPads, flat screen televisions, new fishing equipment, and trophies.

Grayson Waddell caught the largest fish and says he reeled it in in less than 30 minutes.

“I got the fish I caught at the beginning…in the first 30 minutes. My brother caught a fish too. But then, the fish just weren't biting for that long,” said Waddell.
