More than 60 new medical students at Mercer received their white coats Saturday morning.
The ceremony was at the school's Willingham Auditorium downtown.
The white coat ceremony acts like an official welcome to first-year medical school students.
Family and friends were packing the auditorium to see the students get their coats.

She said today was a milestone of hard work.
“I'm excited! This is something I've worked really hard for, this journey's been long, it's been kind of difficult for me personally,” said Hollingsworth. “I'm really proud of myself and I'm also really encouraged just to be here today.”
