Milledgeville police say they're investigating an alleged assault on a woman at the city's popular river walk.

It reportedly happened just before 6 p.m. Monday on the Oconee River Greenway.

Police spokeswoman Felicia Cummings says they interviewed the alleged victim Tuesday morning.
But so far, police are not releasing any further details.

A Milledgeville man who posted about the case on Facebook said he was riding his bike on the north end of the Greenway when a young woman came running out of the woods.

She said she was running when a man grabbed her and tried to pull her off the trail.

She said she escaped and gave police a description of the man.

The head of the group that manages the Greenway says they've never had an assault like this before.

We have a reporter on the scene and will have more on this story on Eyewitness News at 5 & 6.
