There's a new Miss in town. Well, two actually.
On Saturday, Mary Wilhemina Hodges was crowned Miss Macon's Outstanding Teen, and Madison Daughtry was crowned the new Miss Macon.
The Miss Macon Scholarship Association hosts the annual pageant giving young women across Central Georgia the opportunity to earn money for college.
But Jim Montgomery with Miss Georgia says the winners will also work with the Children's Miracle Network to help the children's hospital in Macon.
"It's also a unique opportunity for the young ladies because they, of course, have an opportunity to better themselves, but more importantly they have an opportunity to make a difference in the communities in which they live,” said Montgomery. “We're excited about them as well as they are about the opportunity to earn scholarship."
The Miss Macon pageant is an official preliminary to the Miss Georgia pageant, so perhaps the new Miss Macon could soon be the new Miss Georgia. We'll have to wait and see.
