Walter Reynolds and his company Old Capitol Productions want to turn the pecan orchard at Central State Hospital into a concert space.

“There’s nothing of this scale outside of perhaps Macon, Athens, or Augusta, you really have to drive in order to see an outdoor venue of this magnitude,” Reynolds said.

They plan to start construction soon on a new 40-foot stage.

“I think it would be a great idea,” Georgia College student Taylor Blackwell said. “I think It could bring a lot of attention to Milledgeville, even help smaller artists, maybe even the music department here at Georgia College.”

Reynolds says the entertainment options are endless, and they could host concerts for any genre. He hopes this concert stage will one day lead to other development on the grounds of the old hospital.

He hopes to host the first concerts by the end of the summer.
