A 27-year-old is dead after being hit by a semi-truck on Eastman Cochran Highway earlier Tuesday morning.

Cpl. Brian Screws with the Georgia State Patrol says Dodge County 911 took the call around 3 a.m.

The driver of the 18-wheeler told deputies he was going north to Cochran when he saw a man lying in the road near Antioch Dempsey Baptist Church, but couldn’t avoid hitting him.

Screws says Jahquil Sudler, 27, died at the scene.

Sudler’s body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy, and to determine if Sudler was hit by another vehicle before the truck.
