The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a pedestrian fatality that happened Saturday evening.
A news release says deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on Highway 42 around 6 p.m. Saturday.
They got to the scene and found 35-year-old Jeffrey Land had been hit and was critically injured.
An initial investigation shows that Land was walking south on Highway 42 near Murray Road when he crossed the northbound lane and was hit by a white BMW.
Land died while he was being transported to the hospital. He is believed to be homeless and was living around the area where the accident happened.
At this time, no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed. The accident remains under investigation.
