A Putnam County toddler died last Saturday in the hospital after he nearly drowned in Lake Sinclair on June 13.
Dustin Wofford’s mother, Brittany, confirmed to WMAZ on Sunday that 3-year-old Dustin was pronounced brain dead on Friday, June 16, and that life support services were suspended the next day.
He died later that day.
Dustin’s obituary recounts the impact the diagnosis of his inoperable brain tumor and epilepsy had on the family. An excerpt is below:
“His trials of life due to his diagnosis inspired so many people to open their eyes to what they were taking for granted. He renewed faith in so many and brought families closer. He was not defined by his illness. My baby boy gave life hell, nothing he was forced to face ever slowed him down. He lived life without a second thought, monster in one hand, and the other with a finger in his mouth. No fear.”
Dustin was laid to rest on Friday, June 23. His full obituary can be read here.
