Renovations in full swing for Luther Williams Field

Luther Williams is nearly 90 years old and it's getting some updates, including bathrooms and additional concession stands.

With warmer weather just around the corner, the Macon Bacon team is sizzling the closer it gets to opening day.

As the season approaches, preparations to Luther Williams Field are in full swing.

They are currently working on building the cabana suites, party deck, and a beer garden.

The Bacon's president Todd Pund says all this growth have attracted the USA Baseball Collegiate National team that will go head to head with Japan's Collegiate all-star team in July.

"You know, when they were planning their tour of the south, Savannah, which is another outstanding team in our league, they were picked to host the game and they wanted to pick Macon also because they feel the rebirth of everything going on all the way into North Carolina," he says.

Pund says renovations are expected to be completed by mid-May with the Bacon home opener on June 1st.
