We have an active weather set up across central Georgia for the next 36 hours. We have two rounds of showers and storms that will move through, the first of which will bring widespread rain for tonight.

The good news with this first round is that the severe threat for central Georgia is very low. As you can see below in the SPC Outlook for tonight, the core severe risk remains well to our south, although a strong storm or two can't be ruled out.

By tomorrow morning we are mostly dry across central Georgia. This will allow us to warm up decently for the afternoon with highs in the low to mid 70s. Some peaks of sunshine are even possible through the early afternoon. This will allow the instability to build in the atmosphere, paving the way for a potential second round of storms. This second round of storms does have a severe potential as you can see on tomorrows severe weather outlook from the SPC.

This second rounds of storms will not bring the same widespread rain that we see tonight. This round will feature the potential for smaller, more cellular storms. This means that pin pointing the exact locations that see storms is impossible. However, the environmental conditions by late tomorrow afternoon will be suitable for severe storms to form.

By tomorrow evening a cold front will be approaching central Georgia from the west. Fortunately, by the time the cold front arrives, the peak heating of the afternoon will be long gone, meaning the forcing and the greatest instability will not be in sync.

Even with this in mind cellular storms are possible along and ahead of the cold front. This is not expected to be a widespread severe weather outbreak, but the potential exists tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night for a few severe storms.
