Houston County Commission Chairman, Tommy Stalnaker, says they are asking for patience, when it comes to crews picking up piles of debris from homes and businesses.

He said it "could take literally months" for the county's public works crews to clear all the piles of debris from county curbs.

Stalnaker said the county would stop all of the projects they had going on, and put all of their public works employees toward debris-clearing efforts.

Even with that, he estimates it will be a full-time job for the next eight weeks.

He added that, "Overall, the county was very fortunate, and that it could have been so much worse."

Stalnaker said that right now crews are clearing branches and trees that fell in the roads, and said they would move on to removal from homes and businesses in the next few days.
