The Bibb Sheriff’s Office is investigating multiple shootings, including three fatal, that happened in a span of less than 20 hours on Saturday.
The first fatal shooting happened on Berkner Avenue in west Macon.
According to the sheriff’s office, a call came from the 1500-block of Berkner Ave. just after 1 a.m.
Deputies found Jim Baldwin, 44, had been shot in the main artery of his leg.
He was pronounced dead at the Medical Center, Navicent Health just before 2 a.m.
The sheriff’s office sent out a release around 6 p.m. identifying his suspected killer as 26-year-old Tirell Darnell Mitchell.
An updated news release from the sheriff’s office says Mitchell’s family contacted investigators around 2 a.m. Sunday, and turned him over to investigators.
Mitchell is charged with Baldwin’s murder and he is being held without bond at the Bibb County Jail.
The first and second non-fatal shootings happened at the Quick Serve on Rocky Creek Road in south Macon.
According to the sheriff’s office, two men were arguing in the parking lot.
A witness told deputies that Clarence Clark and Malcom Houston, both 22, pulled guns during the argument.
The two men were both shot twice in the stomach and are listed in stable condition at the hospital.
The shootings are still under investigation and no one else was injured. No charges have been filed yet.
The second fatal shooting happened on Mason Street in west Macon, near Overtyme Bar and Grill and Church’s Chicken on Pio Nono Avenue.
The sheriff’s office says deputies responded to a person shot call around 2:30 a.m.
When deputies arrived, they found 44-year-old Marlon Williams lying in the road with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A suspect has not yet been identified.
The third non-fatal shooting happened at Chambers Cove Apartment Complex in west Macon around 2:30 a.m.
It was reported to deputies that 35-year-old Chaz Green, who lives in the apartment complex, was kicking on doors and turning door knobs at two apartments another building.
People in the first apartment called 911 to report an attempted break-in.
At the second apartment, Calvin Griffin was woken up by the kicks and told Green to get away from the door.
The sheriff’s office says Green continued to kick the door when Griffin shot through it and hit Green in the head.
Green was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health and there are no charges against either man right now.
The third fatal shooting happened Saturday night in west Macon on Vining Circle around 7:30 p.m.
Deputies were doing a welfare check on 75-year-old Ann Leonard.
When they went to her home, they found her lying dead in the kitchen with a gunshot wound to the left side of her chest.
Sgt. Clay Williams says the bullet came through the kitchen window and hit her.
Williams says they are investigating if this shooting is connected to the fatal shooting of Marlon Williams on Mason Street.
