After Harvey moves on this weekend, attention will shift to two other potential tropical systems. The first, Tropical Storm Irma has already formed off the west coast of Africa.

Irma is expected to strengthen into a hurricane over the next 2 to 3 days. Beyond that, the European model develops it into a strong hurricane and brings it close to the United States.

The other system hasn't formed yet. However, both the American and European models show an area of low pressure forming off the Mexican coast and strengthening into a tropical system. If that happens, both models take it towards coastal Louisiana and Texas.

Either way, the tropics are very active right now and will need to be watched closely over the next week.
