(UPDATE 1:45 p.m.) The Bibb Sheriff's Office says it is investigating a 'suspicious' death after a body was found in a makeshift campsite behind the market.

Deputy Clay Williams said the body 'had been there for awhile' and the release says it was decomposing, so they are unable to identify the person or their gender.

An autopsy will be performed to identify the cause of death.

A body was found Sunday afternoon behind the Macon State Farmers Market on Eisenhower Parkway.

According to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, it was found around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Eisenhower and Oglesby Place.

Jones says he is on the way to the scene.
