(UPDATE 4:35 p.m.)

Twiggs Sheriff Darren Mitchum has identified the female body found in a Twiggs County intersection.

He says it is 35-year-old Lauren Jones, of Jeffersonville, and that she was stabbed several times in the torso.

Mitchum says they found little bags of methamphetamine at the scene.

He also says they are interviewing witnesses and believe multiple people are involved.

At this time, investigators are unsure of how long the body had been in the road before 911 was called because it was in a remote area.

Jones’ body will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.
