Warner Robins City Council wants to make it easier to hire veterans.
At Monday night’s Council meeting they voted to approve make hiring veterans a priority.
The resolution says the city will now have a hiring preference for honorably-discharged active duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Those potential employees will still have to meet all the job requirements for open and competitive positions.
David Wilson is a former Naval petty officer and says he thinks the resolution is needed.
“Well I said it was good for veterans because a lot of times when people come out of the military they don't know where they're going to go, they don't know what they're going to do. IF they have a little incentive to come to work for the city, it's beautiful,” Wilson said after the meeting.
The resolution passed unanimously.
The Council also approved contributing $49,990.26 to the 21st Century Partnership. The money was already budgeted for Fiscal Year 2017.
Councilman Chuck Shaheen questioned approving the contribution since the Partnership is still without an Executive Director.
