Jim Taylor says he plans to officially put his name in for the Post 1 Council race in Warner Robins.

Taylor held his announcement event this week in Warner Robins.

Taylor came to Warner Robins in the 1970s when he was stationed at Robins while in the Air Force. He spent six years at Robins and then decided to live here permanently.

He says his platform is very simple and will focus on safety, taxes, and jobs. Taylor says he wants Warner Robins to focus more on the property and resources it already has, instead of focusing on expansion.

Public safety will be one of Taylor's main areas of focus.

"Expand public safety to align with the city's growth, because it's not right now," Taylor said.

Taylor is currently Business Development and Marketing Manager at Warner Robins Building Supply.

He says that experience at Building Supply and his experience running a small business would translate well to Council and will help move the City in the direction of operating like a business.

Taylor also said the City needs to stop pulling from reserve funds to help with the budget and other projects.

"I think it's time we get people with some business and leadership background on the Council," Taylor said Tuesday.

Robins Air Force Base employee Eric Langston announced his intention to run for Post 1 earlier this summer.

Councilman Chuck Shaheen currently holds the seat, earlier this month he announced his intention to run for mayor during a Council meeting.

Registration for candidates is August 21-25.
