If you hear some loud booms coming from Robins Air Force Base this week, do not be alarmed.

The booms are part of an effort to prevent flight hazards and potential damage to aircraft by using non-lethal air cannons to scare off birds and other wildlife.

The 78th Air Base Wing is working with a US Department of Agriculture wildlife services airport biologist on the project.

Robins will test the cannons on and off until Friday.
