BROOKHAVEN, Ga. -- A Brookhaven neighborhood found itself wrangling a herd of nearly 40 lost animals on Thursday after they made a break for it from a nearby field.

Brookhaven city spokesperson Burke Brennan announced that residents were key in getting 38 goats rounded up after they escaped the Drew Valley detention pond.

"It is still unclear whether it was an inside job or they had help from the outside," Brennan said in a written statement.

He added that they are now being sentenced to "hard labor" of eating weeds and underbrush back at the pond. He added that no people - or goats - were harmed in the capture.
