Otto Warmbier, the American student released last week by North Korea, has died.

A statement from his parents says he completed his journey home surrounded by his loving family at 2:20 p.m.

When he returned to Cincinnati on June 13, he was unable to speak, see, or react to verbal commands.

The statement says, “Although we would never hear his voice again, within a day the countenance of his face changed – he was at peace. He was home and we believe he could sense that.”

The family also thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
