Skaters in Macon got the chance to show off their tricks and shred the pipe in the Mactown Smackdown skate competition Saturday afternoon.

It was the first skate tournament held at Central City Skate Park.

Skaters put on a show for the judges from Atlanta, Alabama and Indiana creating some big time air and gnarly tricks.

The competition awarded prizes to skaters and the first place won $1,200.

The organizers were just happy to give skaters in Central Georgia a unique opportunity to show off.

"To bring you a skate tournament and bring something new and refreshing and exciting to Macon… I don't think it's something Macon has ever seen before and we just wanted to be innovative to be bigger and better as the years go on,” said Macon-Bibb Parks and Rec senior administrative assistant Nancy Cleveland.
