Mercer's quarterback Kaelan Riley spoke for the first time with 13WMAZ since being named the starting quarterback for the Bears.

It's the first time since 2013 the Bears will have a new quarterback.

Riley, the redshirt freshman replaces John Russ who started every game for the Bears since 2013 when Mercer's football team was reestablished. Riley looked very comfortable in the fall scrimmage finding the endzone three separate times connecting with Sam Walker twice and Tucker Cannon.

Riley was battling with for the position with red shirt junior Tanner Brumby. The Bears open up the season next Thursday at Five Star Stadium against Jacksonville.
