The Mercer Bears will make a trip to Oxford, Mississippi to open the 2023 season against the Ole Miss Rebels. Mercer Director of Athletics Jim Cole made the announcement on Friday.

This marks the fourth SEC team the Bears will play since the football program was reinstituted in 2013.

This is the second time the Bears will play against the Rebels. Their first meeting took place in 1911, as the Bears fell to Ole Miss 34-0.

This year, Mercer will play two teams from the SEC West, Auburn and Alabama. The Bears will also play the Tide again in 2021, and will open at Vanderbilt in 2020.
