The Mercer Bears did not waste much time in their second contest against Austin Peay as they scored two runs in the first inning and hang on to win a close one against the Governors.
Megan Lane started the scoring for the Bears with an RBI single in the first, and Quirisa Mauga drove her in later in the inning with an RBI.
Mercer's Emma Andrew belted her 5th homer run on the year in the 2nd inning giving the Bears a 3-0 lead.
Although Austin Peay started to rally, the Bears shut the door on the Governors in the 7th with bases loaded to get the 3-1 win.
Mercer improves to 19-10, as Jill McElderry improves to 6-2 on the season. She threw 6 innings, gave up one run, and struck otu 7 batters. Up next the Bears will take on Georgia State in Atlanta on Wednesday.
