You might call Peach County a machine with the 27 straight wins they've stacked up the last couple of years.

This Friday, they take on Grady in the quarterfinals.

One linebacker will use his head as well as his strength to try and get win number 28.

That's because Ja'Darvis Fields is our Athlete of the Week.

Peach County Head Coach Chad Campbell is proud of his outside linebacker.

"Wish more kids took the approach he does with the books," says Campbell.

Ja'Darvis Fields learned at a young age that he needed to perform in the classroom.

"Education is real important to me. That's all my mama and grandmother, they put in my head that school is first," Ja'Darvis says.

Ja'Darvis took the lesson to heart.

He carries an overall 93 average with his lineup of college prep courses.

His guidance counselors say he's ranked in the top ten of his senior class.

"Ja'Darvis is a young man who's been an exceptional student since he's been here at Peach County," Campbell said.

The head coach has high regard for the kid.

Ja'Darvis has climbed up the ranks to gain a starting position on a squad that hasn't lost in two years.

"He's actually been one of our more improved players here, so he's actually done a real good job for us. He's not just a good student, but he's turned into a good football player, too," Campbell said.

Campbell says the coaching staff has high expectations for the players on and off the field.

"Don't settle for a C when you can get a B or an A. It's like football. Don't strive to be average. We strive to be excellent," Campbell said.

Ja'Darvis thinks it would be excellent if he could land a college scholarship and, down the road, major in engineering.

His work ethic is simple.

"It's not hard to mix practice and school. I just go home and get the work done," Fields said with a smile.

Peach County will hit the road against Grady this Friday night.

In the first two playoff games, the Trojans have outscored their opponents 82-0.
