When Marlee Bryan is on the mound for the Bleckley County Lady Royals, her team is confident they take home a victory because of her arm.
"I think she is our best pitcher that we ever had," says teammate Sunny Kate Darsey, "I just think she's a great pitcher."
Marlee agrees with Sunny about achieving the win, but because of different reasons.
"Well my defense is always behind me, and I can always count on them," say Bryan, "I love it, and I enjoy it, especially because my defense is playing flawlessly behind. It's my 'D'."
All season long Marlee and her fellow senior teammates helped lead the Royals to a 26-4-1 record along with a Region Championship, and Bryan says she and the ballclub couldn't be happier.
Marlee explains, "It's great I mean we always play as a team, but definetly this year our seniors are excited and they are all working hard."
Sunny Kate agrees, "They're like my best friends I like playing with them. We play good together and they are just like my all around sisters."
Leading the girls into battle is Marlee's mom and head coach Janice Bryan and Coach says Marlee doesn't want to be treated special instead she wants to be like the rest of the team.
"Somehow it's all worked out", says Coach Bryan. "These seniors I've coached all the way through. I've wathced them all grow up and our families are all good friends and its been a blessing to work with all of them. Their parents have a good relationship and the kids have a good relationship and all shows when they come together out on the field."
But in reality Coach is also a proud mom.
The elder Bryant explains, "She's unique. Even though she's mine, she's one of a kind. She along with the rest of the seniors have led by example and gotten things done when they needed to get done. They make us all proud and they're really going to leave a big legacy out here and a big hole when they are done next year. But they just know what's right and they do it."
And Marlee just hopes she keeps pitching the right way, toward a possible state title.
