It's hard not to miss the 6'6", 220-pound tight end slash defensive stalwart when he is on the football field. But even as a junior, Leonard Floyd is playing heads above the rest.
"He is a tremendous athlete," says head coach Lee Campbell. "He's got the pro size at 6'6", 220. We took him to some camps in Georgia and Alabama. He's got offers from both Georgia and Alabama."
And Floyd is still growing into his new defensive role as a rover, which means on any given play, Leonard can line up as a defensive end, linebacker, or even safety which poses nightmares for opponents and sweet dreams for his coaching staff.
Campbell says, "We line him up everywhere. He's at tight end, wide receiver, and wingback. We just try to get the ball in his hands. He's blitzing. He's in coverage, he comes off the edge up the middle. He's all around the ball, trying to get him near the ball."
"I'm a person that wants to play, work hard, and be on the field and play every game," says Floyd.
In this season alone, Leonard has returned a kickoff 87 yards and has repeatedly led the team in tackles week after week, and for talents like this, #10 earns a perfect 10 and 'Athlete of the Week' honors.
Floyd says, "It makes me feel good, and it tells me that I have to keep practicing and playing hard and not let people talk me out of what I am supposed to do on the field and stuff like that."
Campbell agrees, "He brings a lot to the table. He can hawk a ball anywhere all over the field, and I believe he makes the other ten guys on the field play better, too."
The 0-4 record does not quite reflect how hard the Indians are working to turn things around on the field, but Campbell says with a Leonard Floyd running around for you, you're heading in the right direction.
Campbell echoes, "He's a tremendous young man. Yes sir, no sir. He works extremely hard, he's a great kid."
