It's a double edition of Athlete of the Week. We bring you two teammates, gettin' it done on the field and in the classroom.
On the field in Johnson County this season, you can't mention success without saying D.J. Rozier or Zach Walker.
The senior tandem are stealing headlines and catching attention as tag team heavyweights on and off the gridiron.
Their teammate, Nevada Harrison, agrees. "They're some players. They don't take everything to themselves. They give credit to their line, and I respect that a lot, because it takes a line and a whole team to do what it takes to score. They step up when they need to step up."
"They're pretty good players," Coach Don Norton echoes. "They're fun to watch."
Coach Norton is proud of his senior quarterback and wide out and happy to say they are also fans of each other.
"We've been playing ever since middle school," says D.J. Rozier. "We've just grown up together and started playing."
"He might be little, but he has an awesome heart. Whatever needs to be done on the field, he gets it done. He's an awesome guy," says Zach Walker.
Both Zach and D.J. also make leadership a priority on Friday nights and throughout the week.
Norton says, "They have some of the best character than some of our kids we've had in a long time. Both of them have had good years. They act right in school and represent our school and county well."
" We're leaders by doing our work, staying on everybody in class making sure they do, too," says Rozier.
And although they have fun on the field, they are young men of few words, but know exactly what they want from each other this season.
"Win state. Bring home state," says Walker.
Norton beams, "They ain't bad. Not a bad combination."
