The beginning of July came with a new law. A law that meant new rules and regulations for metal recyclers. The state legislature passed the bill earlier this year.

Macon Police Department's Property Investigation Division conducted an undercover operation on Saturday at recycling centers around the area. A news release says investigators found two recycling centers not in compliance with the new laws.

They were Schnitzer Recycling located at 950 Lower Poplar Street and KT Recycling located at 1773 Jeffersonville Road.

The release says as a result of not following the new laws, investigators arrested and charged three employees of these recycling centers with violation of Georgia Metal Laws O.C.G.A. 10-1-351 - purchasing a coil without proper documentation.
